If you have read my blog before you would have seen Kate and Simon’s lovely pre-wedding shoot.
The idea behind the shoot was not only to get some lovely shots of the two of them and a chance for us to get to know each other a little before their wedding day, but also to take some images for a signing book for their guests to leave messages on the day.
The book arrived yesterday and looks amazing. We used 15 images plus the cover shot and each double page has an image one side and room for lots of messages to be written on the other side.

If you have a pre-wedding / engagement shoot booked with me, this is a perfect way to use the images.

At Sharon and Alex’s reception the ongoing entertainment through the meal was to draw a message on a small canvas for the bride and groom, one 6 inch canvas per table and the winner to be announced at the end of the evening. Two tables produced such stunning works of art that Sharon and Alex declared a tie break challenge would take place.

Happy New Year everyone.

Here’s a little selection of some of my favourite shots from the last twelve months.

The cows gave plenty of entertainment !!

Yes, the groom broke his foot a week before the wedding.

Gemma’s mother-in-law wore the perfect colour dress for this picture. It was another ‘break in the rain’ shot.

I love this shot, they are caught in a moment together, and stood in exactly the right spot.

It always amazes me where grandfathers suddenly get their energy at 11pm at night.

Kate and Simon, pre-wedding shoot.

This was my last wedding related shoot before christmas, so I’m glad I can share it with you now.
Kate is a massive photography fan, she found me after a recommendation from one of my commercial clients, at the same time as she found me on instagram, as I am a bit of an iphone photo app addict and she had recently caught the IG bug.

I showed Kate and Simon a recent engagement shoot at our first meeting and they decided they wanted one. We then had a problem nailing down a weekend or evening when they were available (Simon worked away a lot) and when the weather was good. The great advantage of these pre-wedding shoots is that you can choose the day, and if it’s forecast to rain we can postpone it for another day.

As the summer drew to a close, it looked like we would have to wait until the new year, then suddenly we got a break, the forecast was good their diaries were clear and on November the 5th we took a little trip to Three Cliffs bay on the Gower Peninsula. We took a stroll down to the beach followed by a short “hike” up to the castle ruins which look over the bay.

I am making a signing book for their wedding using these pictures so I can’t show you ALL of the shots, you’ll just have to see if you’re invited to their big day.

Sali, Craig and Sam, beach shoot

I photographed Sali and Craig’s wedding in April this year, it was a lovely day and we got great pictures at Oldwalls on the Gower.

This shoot was arranged afterwards to get them some more ‘family time’ photographs. What I wasn’t expecting was for them to turn up for the shoot in their wedding outfits. We also didn’t expect the weather to be like a warm sunny day in July rather than your average bright day in November.

HOW LUCKY WERE WE !!!! it was forecast to be a sunny day from the begining of the week, my only concern at that point was that the bright red leaves might have dropped off the plants climbing the walls of the venue, The Fig Tree in Llanelli, which I had spotted a week earlier as prime photo backdrop material.

So imagine our suprise on the day, when the temperature just kept rising….and rising. In fact it turned out to be the hottest 1st of October since records began 101 years ago. The Fig Tree is a beautiful location, two restored and converted farm buildings function as ceremony/dance hall and two storey reception hall. There is a pretty well kept garden as well as a wild meadow field, great for photographs.

The food’s amazing and the fireworks display is fantastic, it just kept going and going.
Sian and Scott also hired one of my favourite bands SILVER who definately did not disappoint, in fact once I was happy I had enough images I stuck around to listen to the end of their set.

Oh and days before wind HAD stripped the red leaves off the walls but I managed to find a few!

Richard and Felicity’s blessing in West Wales.

They were married in Australia, sadly I didn’t get to go to that one. However, I was booked for their blessing in West Wales. Richard’s from a small village near Aberystwyth, I have previously photographed one of his sister’s and his older brother’s weddings over the last few years so a lot of the guests are getting quite used to me by now. Felicity didn’t want preparation shots as this had been done out in Australia, but as I didn’t know what photographs they’d had in Australia (they had only flown back two days before the blessing) the rest of the day was treated like a normal wedding.
